From Bloomberg News

Rockwell International Corp. said Monday that it has won a contract from British Airways Plc to install its Rockwell Collins in-flight entertainment system in more than 100 jetliners.

Terms of the contract weren’t disclosed at British Airways’ request, a Rockwell spokesman said. This is Rockwell Collins’ first major contract for its in-flight entertainment system.

The system allows passengers to select audio and video material for playback at their seats and is designed for enhancements such as video games and shopping. Installation will begin later this year.

A majority of British Airways’ long-haul fleet will be equipped with the system. All the jetliners are Boeings, including 747-400s, 747-200s and 777s.

Rockwell Collins is the new name for Hughes-Avicom International Inc., acquired by Costa Mesa-based Rockwell in December. Rockwell Collins provides interactive entertainment systems, direct-broadcast satellite TV and integrated cabin systems for airplanes.

Rockwell is involved in avionics and communications, semiconductor systems and industrial automation. Rockwell’s aerospace and defense businesses were acquired by Boeing in 1996.

Rockwell’s stock price fell $0.75 to $58.75 on Friday. U.S. markets were closed Monday for Presidents Day.
