2-Alarm Fire Guts Garage, Kitchen
An early morning blaze caused about $95,000 in damage Wednesday to a single-story house, fire officials said.
No one was injured in the two-alarm fire, but the garage, the attic and the kitchen of a home in the 2200 block of Marshall Avenue were gutted, said Ventura County Fire Department spokeswoman Rhonda Kauer.
Investigators believe the 12:53 a.m. fire started in the garage and was caused by combustible materials being stored too close to a heater, Kauer said.
By the time firefighters arrived four minutes after the first report of a blaze, the flames had traveled to the attic and into the kitchen. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 1:35 a.m., Kauer said.
