Grants to Be Given to California Dancers

Share

The Washington-based group Dance/USA has received a $1-million grant from the Los Angeles-based James Irvine Foundation to establish the Irvine Fellowships in Dance, a grant program that will provide $30,000 each to 24 California dancers or choreographers.

The fellowships, eight of which will be awarded each year for three years, are intended to foster the creation of new dance works from leading artists, while heightening public awareness of the quality and diversity of dance within the state.

Artists will be selected for “their significant personal accomplishments in the field and a clear artistic vision and goal for the grant period.”
