Share

In an effort to cut energy costs at city buildings, officials this week approved a contract that guarantees annual savings of more than $130,000 over the next 10 years.

The move awards Viron Energy Services a $1.8-million contract to improve the city’s lighting systems. The company will install a computerized system to control major heating, ventilation and air-conditioning in a number of city buildings.

Viron will also install new boilers at City Hall and the Fullerton Public Library, and new heating and air-conditioning systems at City Hall, the Police Department headquarters and the racquetball courts at Independence Park. Traffic signals will be upgraded at 133 intersections.
