*** 1/2 Van Dyke Parks, “Moonlighting: Live at the Ash Grove,” Warner Bros. It figures this was recorded at a place that’s now closed. Parks’ 30 years of recording is largely about bygone Americana. Fronting a string-centered ensemble, he re-creates that elegance, especially on three selections from his Br’er Rabbit musical “Jump,” while reaching back to the source with two lively numbers by 19th century American pianist Louis Moreau Gottschalk. Completely charming.
