Photograph Credit

Nick Green’s Feb. 8 article, “Port Hueneme Searches for Its Long-Lost Commercial Core,” is flawed by the lack of a very important credit line beneath the historic photograph of the intersection of Market Street and Port Hueneme Road.

While every other photograph on this page is credited to a Times employee, the image in question is not. The reason? Because this image is probably not owned by The Times but instead is held in the historical collection of one or more local agencies.

This is arguably the most important image on the page, placing every other photograph in historical perspective. If The Times can take the time to credit each and every image from its own collection, then it can certainly credit those photographs, which have been painstakingly preserved in other archives.

This is not the first instance of such an “oversight” in The Times. Attribution is due.
