Catalina Slaughter

Share

It never ceases to amaze me--the enormous heartlessness once again demonstrated by the disgusting slaughter of the gentle goats and pigs on Catalina Island (Feb 13). Having camped many times at Two Harbors, it was absolutely wonderful looking forward to the nightly visits by these gentle, yet fearful, inhabitants.

We’d leave bits of food and wait to sneak a glimpse of these enchanting creatures. One morning, while their mother kept a watchful eye behind a bush, her curious piglets, not yet afraid of humans, playfully explored our campsite.

I had looked forward to sharing similar experiences with my young son. Unfortunately, the men with guns have taken something beautiful and covered it with ugliness.
