* Alma Baumeister Connell; Librarian
Alma Baumeister Connell, a longtime librarian, died Wednesday at her Ventura home. She was 79.
Born Sept. 12, 1918, in Norfolk, Va., she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from William and Mary College, earning her bachelor’s degree in library science. She served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
In 1945, she married Dennis Connell and the couple lived in Indianapolis for the next 35 years. She worked as a medical librarian at Indiana University Medical Center.
After her husband died, she retired in 1980 and moved to Manhattan Beach. Six years ago, she moved to Ventura.
She is survived by her sons, James of Eugene, Ore., and Neal of Ventura; three grandsons; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
She will be interred in Indiana. Ted Mayr Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
