Marian E. Loftus; Former Oxnard Schoolteacher
Marian Eileen Loftus, a Ventura resident and former longtime Oxnard elementary school teacher, died Tuesday at the age of 82.
Born Sept. 1, 1915, in Gary, Ind., she graduated from Indiana University and had lived in Ventura for the past 41 years.
She worked from 1957 to 1974 as a fourth-grade teacher in the Oxnard Elementary School District.
Her husband, Martin J. Loftus, died in 1987. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ferguson of Camarillo and Sharon Ferguson of Ojai; a son, Terrence of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. A rosary service at 7 p.m. Sunday and funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday will both be held at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
