* Opening at the Museum of Modern Art: “Fernand Leger,” Feb. 15-May 12. The first survey of the French artist’s work to be shown in New York in more than four decades includes paintings, drawings, prints and photographs. * After being postponed, Paul Simon’s original musical “Capeman” is now scheduled to open Jan. 29 at the Marquis Theater, 1535 Broadway, (212) 307-4100.

* Kurt Masur and the New York Philharmonic perform “St. Matthew Passion,” the last of Bach’s passions, Feb. 12-17. A special feature of the performances will be the Philharmonic debut of the St. Thomas Choir from Leipzig, the same choir that premiered the “St. Matthew Passion” on Good Friday, 1729.
