Clouds Usher In a Cooling Trend

Say farewell to 1997--and the week’s unseasonably warm 80-degree weather. Temperatures will dip this weekend and even some showers are expected Sunday, according to meteorologists with WeatherData, which provides forecasts for The Times.

Morning sunshine today will disappear by afternoon as high clouds from a Pacific Northwest cold front kick in, meteorologist John Sherwin said. Temperatures will cool down to the mid-60s today and drop to the low 60s on Sunday, he said.

“Temperatures will be a little cooler than normal,” he said. “After a week of temperatures in the 80s, I’m sure the 60s will seem odd.”

Expect a 40% chance of light showers Sunday. Because Southern California will catch only the tail end of the cold front, the rainfall is expected to be minimal, Sherwin added.
