Parolee Sought for Questioning in Rape, Beating
Police were searching Tuesday for a 45-year-old parolee whom they suspect of raping and beating a woman last month in the laundry room of her apartment complex.
Jesse Allred, whose address is unknown, was last seen two days after the Dec. 1 attack, police said. Allred had been staying briefly at an apartment in the 700 block of Scott Place in Costa Mesa, about one block from the victim’s home.
Detectives canvassed the neighborhood with a composite drawing of the suspect and found Allred’s former roommates, Costa Mesa Police Lt. Ron Smith said. The men turned over a bloodstained T-shirt they said he left in the apartment when he moved out.
Tests showed the blood belonged to the 19-year-old victim, Smith said.
Allred is described as white, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, with brown, shoulder-length hair. He is on parole for burglary. Police have asked anyone with information on Allred’s whereabouts to call (714) 754-5250.
