One of the best-known executives in Orange County retailing has a new job. Jammie Baugh, head of Nordstrom Inc.’s Orange County stores, was promoted to executive vice president and general manager of the retailer’s Northwest division.

Baugh, 44, will oversee 19 stores and eight clearance centers in Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Utah and Colorado. Her new position is one of four in the Nordstrom chain.

The Seattle native came to Orange County in 1978 when she was hired as a buyer in the company’s first Southland store, at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.

Three years later, she was promoted to oversee Nordstrom’s expansion into San Diego, where she opened four stores.

In 1990, Baugh was promoted to vice president and general manager of the company’s Southern California division, which at the time included 13 stores and four outlets. She eliminated that position in a streamlining a few years ago and became head of the Orange County stores.

Geevy Thomas, regional manager for Los Angeles and Orange counties, will now oversee the local stores.
