Midtown Council Election Tonight

Share

The Midtown Ventura Community Council will elect new officers at its monthly meeting tonight.

On the recommended slate are Bill Barbee as chairman, Dan Long as vice chairman, Mary Legeman as secretary and Terri Yanez as treasurer. The position of corresponding secretary is still open.

The council will also discuss how it foresees midtown Ventura in 2018 and beyond. It will also draft a letter to the city asking for financial support to do a “visioning process” that would lay out those plans as guidelines for development in the area. The West Side Community Council received $25,000 to do a similar project last year.

The council is also looking for volunteers to staff the new Midtown Community Resource Center that will be in a mini-mall at the corner of Hurst Street and Thompson Avenue.

The midtown council addresses concerns of residents and businesses in the area bounded by Crimea Street and Sanjon Road on the west, the Ventura Freeway on the south, the foothills to the north and Mills Road on the east.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Cooper Hall, next to Grace Baptist Church, 65 McMillan St. For more information call 662-2514.
