Playlist Defended

Share

Though it is true that KZLA does not play the “twangy” type of country music of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s, we have created a mix of country music that has made our radio station more successful than at any time in its 18-year history (Saturday Letters, Dec. 27).

Reader Jana Pendragon neglected to acknowledge the broad nature of KZLA’s playlist. We play all the great country from today (Garth Brooks, George Strait, LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain, etc.), the music that’s made country the No. 1 music radio format in America. But we also play the best of the roots of country (Patsy Cline and Marty Robbins, for instance) and the Eagles, the greatest country rock artist of all time.

KZLA has more variety in its playlist than any major country station in the nation.
