Serna, Serrano Help No. 1 Saddleback Trounce Servite

Thomas Serna scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season as top-ranked Saddleback defeated No. 8 Servite, 5-0, in a Golden West League boys’ soccer game Friday at Servite.

Alex Serrano also had two goals and Joseph Tagaloa scored one for the Roadrunners (12-1, 3-0). Servite goalkeeper Noe Arreola had six saves.

In another Golden West League game:

Ocean View 1, Tustin 0 (OT)--Mauricio Briones scored the game-winner early in the second overtime for the Seahawks (11-7, 2-1). Ocean View goalkeeper Clay Monroe made six saves in the team’s second consecutive shutout. Sergio Vargas made 10 saves for Tustin (1-10, 0-3).

In the Academy League:

Capistrano Valley Christian 4, Southern California Christian 0--Mike Flanders scored in the first minute for Capistrano Valley Christian. Justin Hui had two goals and Brian Morabito one for the Flames (5-6, 2-0). Goalkeeper Drew St. Clair had 14 saves for SCC (1-11-1, 0-2).

In the Century League:

El Modena 2, Orange 1--El Modena’s Gabe Mejia broke down the left side of the field and crossed a ball from 40 yards out to Armando Reyes, who blasted a shot from 20 yards into the upper right corner for the game-winner 20 minutes into the second half.

El Modena (6-2-5, 2-1) missed a penalty kick in the first half, but goalkeeper Sergio Viera scored on the Vanguards’ second penalty kick 10 minutes into the second half. Viera also made 10 saves to preserve the victory. Host Orange is 2-1 in league play.

Villa Park 2, Santa Ana Valley 1--Goals by Joe Oftelie and Antonio Vasquez helped Villa Park (7-7, 1-1)upset the visiting Falcons (10-3-1, 2-1). Santa Ana Valley scored on a penalty kick with a minute left.

In the Empire League:

El Dorado 3, Katella 1--Katella (5-9-4, 0-2-1) took an early 1-0 lead, but two goals by Ryan Valdez and another by Bryan DePoala gave El Dorado (12-5, 3-0) a two-goal lead.

Loara 2, Kennedy 2 (OT)--Alvin Alvarez scored with eight minutes left in the second overtime to tie it for Kennedy (9-4-2, 2-0-1). Randy Dawson scored the first goal for Kennedy. Matt Koenig and Ben Zimmerman scored for visiting Loara (2-5-4, 1-0-2).

In the Freeway League:

La Habra 1, Buena Park 0--Bret Weyer split two defenders with a pass to Sergio Ramirez, who flicked the ball into the goal from 10 yards out with five minutes left of the game. Alfredo Barroso made eight saves to record his third league shutout for La Habra (5-4-4, 3-0). Visiting Buena Park is 5-4-1, 0-3.

Sonora 3, Sunny Hills 2 (OT)--James Mena took a corner kick from Jose Camarillo and put it past goalkeeper Ashely Hendry in the second minute of overtime for Sonora. Sonora (9-5-1, 2-1) trailed, 2-0, at halftime after goals by Jared Bruce and Tom Kim of Sunny Hills (6-9-2, 1-2).

In the Garden Grove League:

Pacifica 4, Garden Grove 1--Brandon Chow scored three times, including twice on penalty kicks, and Rodrigo Muller also had a goal for visiting Pacifica (3-2-5, 2-1-1). Sam Chittenden scored for the Argonauts (5-6, 1-3).

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 3, Whittier Christian 1--Tim Metzger scored three goals--his 15th, 16th and 17th of the season, for Calvary Chapel (7-3-2, 1-1-1).

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 1, Anaheim 1--Ryan Flores scored 15 minutes into the second half to put the Wildcats (5-4-2, 1-0-1) ahead, 1-0. Antonio Carpio tied it for Anaheim (4-3-4, 0-0-2) with 10 minutes left in the game.

Valencia 3, Savanna 1--Marc Fiamengo put Valencia ahead, 1-0, with a goal in the 50th minute, but Savanna’s David Hernandez tied the score five minutes later. Dan Young scored the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute for the Tigers (5-5-2, 2-0).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Costa Mesa 2, University 2--Parham Parto gave University a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute. Mike Culp’s goal tied the score in the 77th minute. Goalkeeper Matt Murray had five saves for University (4-9-2, 0-2-1) and Carlos Ceron had four for Costa Mesa.

Estancia 2, Aliso Niguel 1--Jose Quintana scored on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the second half to give Estancia (8-4-2, 1-2) the victory. Aliso Niguel is 5-5-4, 0-2-1.

In the Sea View League:

No. 4 Woodbridge 2, Irvine 1--Daniel Chunn and Andrew Edmonds each scored one goal in the second half to help Woodbridge (11-0-5, 2-0-1) overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit.

In the Sea View League:

El Toro 3, No. 3 Santa Margarita 1--Gonzalo Bonilla scored two goals and Josh Saunders had seven saves to lead El Toro (6-7-1, 2-0-1). Santa Margarita is 1-2 in league.

In the Sunset League:

No. 5 Fountain Valley 2, Edison 1--John Lloyd’s goal in the 10th minute gave Fountain Valley a 1-0 lead. Edison’s Mo Abdelmuti tied the score with two minutes left in the half. Ryan Futagaki scored the go-ahead goal on a 20-yard free kick in the 55th minute for the Barons (12-3-1, 3-0).

In Garden Grove League girls’ soccer:

Pacifica 2, Garden Grove 2--Diana DeAugustine scored two goals and goalkeeper Sara Moranville made three saves for host Pacifica (14-4, 4-0), which broke the Argonauts nine-game unbeaten streak. Garden Grove is 8-1-1, 3-1.
