Sidney Wanger; Helped Design Lunar Lander

Sidney Wanger, 77, a physicist who helped design the lunar lander for the Apollo missions. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he graduated from Brooklyn College and spent most of his career at Los Angeles aerospace companies. He worked with Grumman Aircraft during a brief assignment on Long Island, N.Y., designing the telescopic equipment used on the small unit that descended from Apollo spacecraft to the surface of the moon. Wanger ended his career with a decade in the Los Angeles City Department of Transportation. On Jan. 10 in Burbank.
