Spotlight: Amelio Joins San Francisco Investment Firm

Gilbert Amelio, former chief executive of Apple Computer Inc. and National Semiconductor Corp., has joined a San Francisco investment firm to lead its high-technology financing business. Amelio was named a partner and director of Parkside Group LLC, which specializes in corporate buyouts in cooperation with the companies’ executives. Amelio, who left Apple in July after a string of losses, also will manage venture financing for companies within a year of generating revenue.
