Northridge Hits Back but Arizona Wins

Cal State Northridge rallied twice from early deficits before falling to Arizona, 15-12, in its baseball opener Tuesday in Tucson, Ariz.

The Matadors trailed, 8-1, after two innings, then scored five runs in the third and two in the fourth to tie the game, 8-8.

Arizona went up, 14-8, before the Matadors closed to 14-12 with four runs in the seventh.

Adrian Mendoza hit a three-run home run and Chris MacMillan added a solo homer for Northridge.

Kevin Patrick, Darren Dyt, Nakia Hill and MacMillan each had two hits for the Matadors.

Tim Baron, a transfer from Cal State Fullerton, started for the Matadors and pitched four innings, allowing 11 runs and 10 hits.
