STINGRAYS TONIGHT
Opponent--Portland Power.
Time--7.
Records--Long Beach 19-13, Portland 19-15.
Site--Memorial Coliseum, Portland.
Update--With 12 games to go, Long Beach can go a long way toward a Western Conference title with a win tonight against the second-place Power. The teams’ final meeting is at the Pyramid on Feb. 8. The schedule down the stretch favors Long Beach--at least until the last four dates. After tonight, five of the StingRays’ next seven games are at home. Then Long Beach closes the regular season with four on the road: New England, Atlanta, Columbus and Philadelphia. The StingRays are 3-2 against Portland and have won the last two. Portland acquired slam-dunk winner Sylvia Crawley from Colorado on Wednesday for forward Stacey Ford and a second-round draft pick.
