City of Angels: Fourteen well-wishers have sent angel pins to Los Angeles Police Officer Manuel Solis, who lost the one affixed to his bulletproof vest during last week’s gunfight in Lake View Terrace. The shooting left Solis with a facial cut and his partner, Officer Donald Boon, with a gunshot wound to the hip. Solis, who credited the pin with saving his life, had already received an angel from his mother. So he gave the extras to his fellow Foothill Division officers, including Boon.
