Sewing Group

I was pleased to see your article, “Seniors Donate Handiwork and Time to Aid Kids in Classroom,” Jan. 20.

I had the pleasure of sewing with the ladies at the Goebel Center last August while we made “flag bags” for the Thousand Oaks High School color guard. Not only are they hard-working and talented, but an awful lot of fun.

I would like to mention that the sewing group could use donations of fabrics to make these projects for the local schools. There are a lot of us who have yards of fabric in the closet for our own sewing projects that we never had time to get to. Pull it out and drop it by the Senior Center. They will happily put it to good use. They could also use a few “handy” people who could volunteer to service their sewing machines from time to time. The more support we offer them the more support they can offer to our schools.
