Two juveniles were arrested early Sunday after allegedly beating an 18-year-old man and stealing his vehicle, police said.

The victim, Daniel Ortegon of Huntington Beach, told police he had been attacked and beaten in the 7800 block of Sycamore Avenue by one of the suspects, Sgt. Mike Metoyer said.

While Ortegon was being assaulted, the second youth allegedly entered the victim’s car and drove off, police said.

The attacker then jumped into the vehicle, which later stopped to pick up two females farther down the street, Metoyer said.

Later, Fountain Valley police stopped a vehicle matching the stolen car’s description and detained the three passengers.

The driver ran off, and Fountain Valley police, assisted by a police dog, found him hiding under a car, Metoyer said.

The victim identified the two male suspects--ages 16 and 17, both of Huntington Beach--as the carjackers.

The two were booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall, police said.
