2 Armed Men Tape Up, Rob Theater Workers
Police are investigating the armed robbery early Saturday of the Edwards Cinema on Brookhurst Street.
An undetermined amount of money was taken from two employees who were held at gunpoint shortly after the last movie ended at 12:15 a.m.
Using the ruse that he had lost his wallet in the theater, one robber was able to trick employees into giving him access to the theater after the doors were closed to the public.
The men used duct tape to restrain the employees, then stole cash from the business, police said. The robbers left in a white 1990s car, described as perhaps an Acura.
The first man is described as white with blond hair, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds and wearing a black baseball hat, black jacket and black pants.
The other man is described as white with brown hair, in his 20s, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, and wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
