Queen Mother Breaks Hip After Falling
Queen Elizabeth II’s mother was hospitalized Sunday after fracturing her left hip in a fall at Sandringham, the royal family’s country estate in eastern England, Buckingham Palace said.
The Queen Mother Elizabeth, 97, was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn near Sandringham and then transferred to King Edward VII Hospital in London, a royal family spokesman said on customary condition of anonymity.
The spokesman said the Queen Mother, a horse racing enthusiast, was injured while viewing horses. Buckingham Palace was to issue a statement on her condition today.
Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and the monarch’s sister, Princess Margaret, were at Sandringham when the accident happened.
