Ice Dogs Move Into a Tie Atop the Division

ORLANDO, Fla. — Andrei Vasilyev scored a goal, his IHL-leading 30th, and assisted on another to lead the Long Beach Ice Dogs to a 4-1 victory over the Orlando Solar Bears on Thursday night.
The victory before an announced crowd of 7,648 at Orlando Arena moved the Ice Dogs into a tie for first place in the Southwest Division.
Defenseman Victor Ignatjev scored two goals including an empty-netter with 24 seconds remaining, and Doug Ast had two assists for the Ice Dogs (31-15-7).
Long Beach goalie Kay Whitmore stopped 26 of 27 shots and all nine short-handed situations in picking up his 16th victory of the year.
Gregori Pantaleyev scored the only goal for Orlando (22-17-8) in the third period.
