Long Beach State Still Has Trouble on Road
Roberto Bergersen scored 17 points and Mike Tolman added 15 to carry Boise State to an 84-60 victory over Long Beach State in a Big West basketball game Thursday.
The Broncos exploited Long Beach’s weakness, the lack of a point guard, turning up the defensive pressure for 23 turnovers. Boise committed only six.
The 49ers (8-11, 3-4 in the Big West) took a 6-0 lead and held a 17-12 advantage before Boise (12-8, 4-3) went on a 26-11 run and took a 38-38 halftime lead.
Long Beach--which made 50% of its shots, but made 17 fewer attempts--pulled to within 40-36, but the Broncos answered with a 21-6 run to break the game open.
The 49ers, who are 0-6 on the road--were led by center Andrew Betts, who had 20 points and made eight of his nine shots. Guard Antrone Lee added 16 points.
Reserve guard Shane Flanagan rounded out the Boise scoring with 15 points. The Broncos are unbeaten in eight games at home and made 10 of their 22 three-point shots.
