Let me get this straight: Raul Mondesi has an average salary higher than Tom Glavine, Mike Piazza, Tino Martinez, Tony Gwynn, Frank Thomas, Larry Walker, Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner, Mo Vaughn, Jeff Bagwell, Roger Clemens and Ken Griffey Jr.?

Congratulations to Fred Claire and the Dodgers for signing Raul Mondesi to a contract. Now, if they can sign Mike Piazza to a long-term deal, they will have locked up, through the end of the decade and beyond, the nucleus of a team that will fail either to get to the playoffs or win a playoff game. I can hardly wait for spring training.
