Well, President Clinton can do it . . . so why not go to China?

The California Manufacturing Technology Center is looking for Orange County-based companies--manufacturers with 500 or fewer employees--to take a nine-day trip aimed at matching them with Chinese trade partners,

The July 25-Aug. 3 trade mission will visit industrial centers in Beijing, Dalian and Wuhan. William Minnig, a consultant for the center who lived and worked in China for eight years, will escort the group along with the just-retired Chinese consul general to Los Angeles.

Minnig works out of the center’s Orange County office in Anaheim.

The manufacturing technology center is a private, nonprofit organization established to help small manufacturers become more competitive. The center charges fees for its services and receives a variety of state and federal grants.

It is partnering with Dynasty Marketing Management International Inc., an Alhambra-based export management company, for the China trade mission.

Minnig says he hopes to take representatives from nine companies on the trip. The cost is $7,350 for the first person from each company, with a discount for additional representatives, he said.

Minnig said the center will match the manufacturers with pre-qualified Chinese companies interested in joint ventures and licensing or import and export representation deals. Companies interested in such deals but unable to participate in the trade mission can arrange to be represented during the trip by the center for a $2,400 fee.

A second China trade mission is being organized for October, Minnig said.

Minnig can be reached at (714) 687-6443 or at minnig@cmtc.com. The manufacturing technology center’s Internet address is https://www.cmtc.com.
