Speaking of The Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland P.R. czar Tom Brocato is back at work after surgery to correct complications from ulcers.

Brocato, a veteran of decades of Southland publicity wars, signed on at the Mouse House in 1995. He said his digestive problems date back more than 20 years and that doctors give him “30 or 40 years more” before he needs another such operation.

The discomfort was so intense that Brocato would skip dinner if he ate a large lunch during the months counting down to the blastoff of new Tomorrowland.

That behind him, he took off about a month, including a week in the hospital, ending with a week’s vacation in Ojai and Santa Barbara. Now he’s eating like the old days.

“I never want to see Jell-O again,” Brocato said. “The other day I got a French roll and loaded it up with Italian salami and provolone and sat down in front of the TV and ate it all, bite by bite by bite. I feel great.”
