Silveyra, Chapman to Meet in National Handball Final

Defending champion and top-seeded Octavio Silveyra of Commerce beat Vincent Munoz of Commerce, 21-7, 21-4, in the men’s pro singles semifinals Friday at the U.S. Handball Assn. National Championships at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley.

David Chapman of Long Beach, defeated John Bike of Hesperia, 21-20, 21-16, in the other semifinal. The final is 2:30 p.m. today.

In the pro women’s quarterfinals, top-seeded Lisa Fraser of Winnipeg defeated Amber Rounseville of Springfield, Mo., 21-5, 21-7; Fiona McKenna beat Allison Roberts, 21-17, 20-21, 11-5; Yvonne August of Castro Valley, defeated Rachel Kos of Dallas, 21-6, 21-4; Anna Engele of St. Paul, Minn., beat Stephanie Lowe of Los Angeles, 21-12, 21-16.
