Fire Displaces Family of 8
A fire Monday at a home in Westminster caused $50,000 in damage but no injuries, fire officials said.
No residents were at the three-bedroom house in the 13000 block of Edwards Street when the fire broke out just before 4 p.m., said Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Dennis Shell.
“The home had no smoke detectors, so they were lucky no one was inside,” Shell said.
Though the blaze appeared to have been accidental, it was still under investigation Monday night, Shell said.
Two adults and six children, ages 5 to 16, were displaced, said Barbara Jackson of the American Red Cross, which provided shelter, food and clothing for them.
