Vigilantes Held to 5 Hits in Loss to Sonoma County

Eric Brown had a single and triple and drove in four runs as host Sonoma County beat the Vigilantes, 7-2, in a Western Baseball League game Monday in Rohnert Park Stadium before an announced crowd of 805.

The Vigilantes, who had five hits, were held in check by pitcher John Patton, who gave up three hits and one run (unearned) in seven innings. Patton (4-2) also had eight strikeouts and three walks.

Kent Ervin (3-3) gave up 10 hits and seven runs, six earned, in five innings to take the loss.

John Bess hit a home run, his eighth, and scored twice also for Sonoma County (23-17). Eric White and Steve Dietz also scored twice for the Crushers.

Michael Moore hit a home run, his fifth, for the Vigilantes (20-21) in the ninth inning.

Sonoma County has won two of the first three in the series that concludes today with Kirk Irvine starting for Mission Viejo against Brian Basteyns.
