From Times Wire Reports

The United States and European countries trying to stop the fighting in Serbia’s Kosovo province demanded an immediate cease-fire and, for the first time, called on governments to crack down on the flow of funds to ethnic Albanian rebels. In Kosovo, meanwhile, Serbian police launched their heaviest attack yet against a long-besieged guerrilla enclave on the Albanian border, killing five people and wounding several more, ethnic Albanian sources said. In Germany, representatives of the six-nation Contact Group said they will forward the “basic elements” of a peace plan to the warring parties confidentially, hoping to help resolve the conflict that has claimed more than 300 lives this year.
