Europeans to Test Warheads for Gas

The United Nations is sending scientists to Iraq to transport parts of missile warheads that might have been loaded with deadly VX gas to laboratories in France and Switzerland for testing, a U.N. official said. Last month, a U.S. laboratory revealed that Iraq loaded the highly lethal gas onto missile warheads before the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Iraq disputed the finding, and the U.N. agreed to send the parts to European laboratories for further testing. The team will consist of at least six scientists, including three from France.
