Yankees Want Public Money
New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner has indicated that public financing could be critical to his keeping the baseball team in New York.

“I think stadiums probably do.”
The saga of whether the Yankees will stay in the Bronx, move to Manhattan or leave New York fired up recently with a recent move by City Council Speaker Peter Vallone to place a referendum before voters which would bar public financing for a Manhattan stadium.
