Orioles Extend Streak to Eight
Roberto Alomar was four for six with two doubles as the Baltimore Orioles extended their winning streak to a season-high eight games with a 9-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Thursday night.
Alomar is 20 for 38 against the Rangers this season. The second baseman has three four-hit games this season and 25 in his career.
The Orioles had 18 hits, one off their season high set Wednesday night in a 14-3 victory over the Rangers. Texas has lost five in a row.
Texas’ Juan Gonzalez, the major league RBI leader with 101, failed to drive in a run for the eighth consecutive game. He was one for four.
Scott Erickson (10-7) limited Texas to three runs and eight hits in seven innings for his sixth victory in seven decisions. He struck out four and walked one.
Baltimore took a 4-1 lead in the third against Aaron Sele (12-6). Eric Davis and Surhoff hit RBI singles and Lenny Webster had a two-run double.
