Marine Science Center to Host Beach Cleanup
The Redondo Marine Science Education Center will host a beach cleanup event with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers from AmeriCorps and local Boy and Girl Scout troops will be on hand to help clear beaches of litter.
The goal is to “make the kids aware of how important the beach is and the dangers of pollution,” said program coordinator Jennifer Pursley.
“We want to teach them to protect the environment.”
The event is open to the public. A free lunch and tour of the education center will follow.
Volunteers should meet at 1021 N. Harbor Drive at 9 a.m. Information: (562) 529-7397.
