Chico Pitcher Navarro Dominates Vigilantes

Scott Navarro pitched his first shutout of the season as Chico defeated the Vigilantes, 6-0, in a Western League baseball game Friday before an announced crowd of 1,846 at Saddleback College.

Navarro (6-3) gave up six hits, walked two, hit one and struck out three.

Chico (2-1 in the second half) scored four times in the sixth with the help of two home runs. Ken Shamburg started with a triple and scored on a home run by Graham Koonce.

After an out, Tim Cooper hit the first of his two home runs in the game and Nate Palmer doubled in the final run of the inning.

Bo Durkac had a sacrifice fly in the second inning and Cooper homered again in the eighth for Chico.

Michael Mitchell had two doubles and Robert Muro had two singles for the Vigilantes (1-2), who left nine runners on base.

Brent Hansen (3-4) gave up eight hits and five runs in 5 2/3 innings.
