Eric Hovde to Chair West Coast Bancorp Board

* Eric D. Hovde has been named chairman of the board, president and chief executive of West Coast Bancorp, a Newport Beach bank holding company. He has been a director since 1997. Hovde succeeds John B. Joseph, who will continue as a director and as chairman of Sunwest Bank, a 56.5% owned subsidiary of West Coast. James G. LeSieur III, president of Sunwest, was named a director of West Coast.

* Glen Jansma has been appointed president and chief operations officer of Thomas Bros. Maps in Irvine. He had been senior vice president of operations. Jansma joined Thomas Bros. in 1983 after serving as a management and productivity consultant for the construction industry in Eugene, Ore.

* Henry C. Reed has been named to the newly created position of vice president and general manager of Avery Dennison Worldwide Office Products in Brea, a division of Avery Dennison Corp. Reed was vice president and general manager for Organization, Filing and Presentation Products and Strategic Resources North America. He joined the company in 1993 from the Boston Consulting Group.

* Dave Stevens has been appointed president of the West region for Sprint PCS in Irvine. He succeeds Dave McGlade, who left to start a new company pursuing affiliation and resale opportunities with Sprint PCS. Stevens will oversee the operation, implementation, sales and marketing of service in a 10-state region. He was previously area vice president for Northern California/Nevada.

* George Klaus has joined the board of directors of FileNet Corp., a Costa Mesa document management company. Klaus is chairman, president and chief executive of Platinum Software Corp. in Irvine.

* Don Christeson has been appointed senior vice president, operations for Parker Properties Inc., responsible for construction operations at Summit, an office project in Aliso Viejo. He was previously president of Christeson Co., a general contracting and land development company, for more than 40 years.

* Jeff Rocke has been named director of public affairs for Kaiser Permanente’s Orange County service area. Before joining the health maintenance organization, Rocke was with the United Way of Orange County for nine years.

* James J. Foreman has been selected a director of development for Catellus Development Corp. in Irvine. He was formerly corporate real estate consultant for Southern States Realty, an affiliate of Southern California Edison.

* Joseph Laporta has joined Deluxe Color Printers in Newport Beach as a senior account executive. He has more than 24 years experience in the printing industry, including positions at Lehigh Cadilla Printing & Litho, International Paper Co. and DuPont.

* Clifford T. Denmark and John D. Wintemute have been named project directors at Snyder Langston, an Irvine-based real estate development and construction services company. Denmark was previously operations manager in charge of field construction and operations management for Keller Construction Co. Ltd. Wintemute was formerly executive vice president of Telacu Development Corp.

* Pat Harriman has joined J2 Marketing Services in Brea as public relations account supervisor. She joined the agency from Fisher Business Communications, where she was senior account executive.

* Dan Winton has been elected 1999 chairman of the California Business Properties Assn. He is a partner with Paone Callahan McHolm & Winton LLP.

* David J. Cordero is the new director of public affairs for the Apartment Assn. of Orange County, based in Garden Grove. His previous experience includes political campaign management, special events coordination and radio broadcasting.

* Ali Kruze has joined Cooley & Co., a Newport Beach public relations and marketing firm, as an associate. She had been manager of public relations for the Display Products division of Mitsubishi Electronics America.

* C. Wayne Johnson has joined Ware & Malcomb Architects in Irvine as controller. He was previously controller and chief administrative officer for Closet World Inc., and chief financial officer for Alessi Industries Inc. Ruth M. Brajevich is the new director of marketing. She was formerly an independent marketing consultant for Ambrosia Interior Design Inc. and director of marketing for Creative Design Consultants Inc.

* Rick Chamberlin has joined Interior Specialists, a design company, as director of contract sales in the Irvine office. He was previously a sales associate at Leonard’s Carpet Service and vice president of sales and marketing for Pacific Decorating Center in Anaheim.

* Harry A. Steinke has joined Holmes & Narver Services Inc. in Orange as vice president of marketing. He previously spent 21 years at Raytheon Systems Co. (formerly Hughes Aircraft Co.), where he worked in business development, program management, systems engineering and circuit design.
