Happy 50th From Boat Company

Here’s a small perk to offset the gloom for baby boomers approaching geezerhood: a free Newport Harbor cruise for anyone born in 1948.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Fun Zone Boat Co. in Newport Beach is giving away complimentary cruises to people who also are hitting the half century mark this year.

What’s the catch? Well, you’ve got to prove you are really as old as you say you are, so bring proof of your birth date. And a paying customer must accompany anyone who gets the free ride.

But the offer is good for out-of-towners as well as locals. And it works for either a 45-minute or a 90-minute cruise on any of the company’s three cruise vessels.
