Esplanade Mall Wins Award for Whale Event
The Esplanade Shopping Center in Oxnard was one of four malls to win the Robert “Magic” Jones Award for Creativity from the Southern California Marketing Directors Assn.
The Esplanade’s entry, “Celebration of the Whales,” was a monthlong event held in conjunction with the Greater Oxnard & Harbors Tourism Bureau to promote Oxnard as a whale-watching site.
The shopping center’s event featured a 14-foot, life-size balloon sculpture of a whale, displays from Oxnard College’s Marine Research department, activities for children, information on whales and chances to win whale-watching trips.
