Police Set Next Round of Classes for Residents

Share

In a continuing effort to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and residents, the city will soon hold more of its popular Citizens Police Academy sessions.

Academy classes provide exposure to several aspects of police work, including the vice, SWAT, canine and helicopter units.

“I think it’s terrific,” said Irv Barger, a senior citizen volunteer at the Westside police substation. “I went through the first class, and my wife went through [a later one]. Everyone who has been through the class has thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Applicants must live or work in Costa Mesa. They cannot have any outstanding warrants and must be free of misdemeanor or felony convictions for the last three years.

Applications are available at police headquarters, 99 Fair Drive, or the Westside substation, 567 W. 18th St.
