Tim Bogar, batting only .176, delivered the game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning as the Houston Astros held off the Colorado Rockies, 10-9, Monday night.

“It’s definitely the highlight of my season,” Bogar said. “As rough as it has been this year, to finally contribute was a real good feeling.”

Houston blew all of a seven-run lead before coming back to win its fourth straight.

With runners at first and third, Astro Manager Larry Dierker could have used Bogar, Ricky Gutierrez or Dave Clark to pinch-hit.

But Dierker stayed with his light-hitting shortstop, who singled to right-center to drive in Carl Everett, who went four for five, with the winning run.

“I considered it,” Dierker said of pulling Bogar. “I kind of went back and forth a couple of times. I could have gone with Ricky. But Bogey had been coming out of [his slump].”
