SAN CLEMENTE — Border Patrol agents in San Clemente have seized 1,046 tablets of Viagra that authorities say a Japanese tourist bought in Mexico and intended to smuggle back to Japan for resale.
The tourist, a 41-year-old man from Tokyo, planned to resell the popular impotence drug in Japan, Border Patrol spokesman Bill Strassberger said Thursday. A receipt indicated that he bought the tablets in Tijuana.
“He freely spoke about the fact that he had bought it in Mexico and intended to sell it back home,” Strassberger said. “He was claiming that he could sell it for as much as $300 per tablet.”
