Liberty Routs Monarchs, 76-54
Sophia Witherspoon scored 15 points and the New York Liberty pulled away in the second half to beat the Sacramento Monarchs, 76-54, Friday night at Sacramento.
The Liberty (11-9), which won its third consecutive road game, scored the first six points of the second half. New York later went on a 9-0 run to take a 47-35 lead with 14:11 to play.
After Sacramento (4-14) narrowed the margin to eight points, New York ran off 10 consecutive points for a 59-41 lead with 6:48 left.
Point guard Teresa Weatherspoon was also a major factor for the Liberty, getting nine points, 10 assists and seven steals.
