Orange Council OKs Street Renaming
Chapman University has claimed a little slice of Orange, winning the city’s approval to have part of Sycamore Avenue rechristened as University Drive.
The east leg of Sycamore between Glassell and Orange streets has already become an unofficial entrance to the university, public works officials said.
The change will help motorists more easily find the school and, since no private homes or businesses are on the street, no one should be inconvenienced, they added.
Al McQuilkin, director of facilities for Chapman, said that the university will add a traffic signal at its own expense, once a parking structure and the business and technology building are completed.
