ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Sunstone Hotel Investors Inc.: The San Clemente hotel real estate investment trust posted a 76% gain in net income for the second quarter as revenue more than tripled. Net income rose to $5.8 million, or 15 cents per share, from $3.3 million, or 17 cents a share, for the comparable 1997 quarter. Revenue rose to $24.9 million from $7.9 million. First-half net income was up 80% to $11.9 million, or 32 cents a share, from $6.6 million, or 39 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue grew to $48.6 million from $15.7 million.
