Students to Paint Mural on Graffiti-Marred Wall

A mural painted by high school students will cover a wall in a city park that is frequently tagged with graffiti, officials said this week.

The City Council voted Monday to authorize artist Lori Segreto to lead the project, said Don Rogers, the city’s acting director of human services.

Starting in September, students from Culver City High School will create a colorful mural on a 7-foot by 75-foot wall behind the baseball diamond in Kronenthal Park, Segreto said.

No theme has yet been chosen for the artwork, which will be funded by voter-approved county bond funds allotted for parks.

Segreto added that the large mural is intended to discourage taggers from marking the wall with graffiti.
