UCI Extension Honors 2 Students
Students Daniel Sanchez and Steve Bagatourian have received UCI Extension’s Outstanding Achievement awards.
The awards were presented by Phil Nowlen, assistant executive vice chancellor for continuing education, in a ceremony in the Social Sciences Auditorium at UCI.
The award recognizes students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and made noteworthy accomplishments.
Sanchez received his award for completing 26 units of his Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate in just two quarters. He said he was motivated by his desire to teach English in Mexico and plans to begin soon.
Bagatourian was given the award for his script, “Weasel,” a story about the life and times of a 12-year-old murderer. He recently sold the option to his script to John Cusack’s film company, New Crime Productions, shortly after winning first prize in the CineStory Screenwriting Contest.
